    Product Description:
Diisobutylaluminum hydride (DIBAL-H) is an organoaluminum compound with the formula (i-Bu)₂AlH. It is a colorless, pyrophoric liquid typically supplied as a solution in an organic solvent such as toluene or hexane. As a highly reactive and selective reducing agent, it is a staple in synthetic organic chemistry laboratories. Its primary application is the chemoselective reduction of various functional groups. Most notably, DIBAL-H is the reagent of choice for the partial reduction of esters, nitriles, and amides to the corresponding aldehydes under mild conditions, a transformation that is difficult to achieve with many other reducing agents. It is also widely used for the reduction of acid chlorides to aldehydes, epoxides to alcohols, and in conjugate reductions. Due to its extreme air- and moisture-sensitivity, DIBAL-H must be handled under an inert atmosphere (e.g., nitrogen or argon) using strict Schlenk-line or glovebox techniques. Its pyrophoric nature necessitates careful quenching protocols for waste disposal.
