    Product Description:
Raney Nickel is a finely divided, porous nickel-aluminum alloy catalyst, typically containing approximately 50% nickel and 50% aluminum by weight. It is produced by leaching the aluminum from the alloy with a strong alkali solution, leaving a highly active, sponge-like nickel structure with a large surface area. Its primary application is as a heterogeneous catalyst for a wide range of organic reactions, most notably the hydrogenation of multiple bonds (e.g., alkenes, alkynes, nitriles, nitro groups, and carbonyls) and the desulfurization of organic sulfur compounds. It is also widely used as a reducing agent in chemical synthesis. The catalyst is typically supplied as a suspension in water or as a dry powder, and it is pyrophoric in air, requiring careful handling under an inert atmosphere or solvent.
