    Product Description:
Apatite is a group of phosphate minerals with the general formula Ca₅(PO₄)₃(F, Cl, OH), where the dominant anion (F⁻, Cl⁻, OH⁻) defines the specific variety (fluorapatite, chlorapatite, hydroxyapatite). It crystallizes in the hexagonal system and is the primary inorganic component of vertebrate bones and teeth, with hydroxyapatite being the most biologically relevant form. Its primary industrial applications are in the materials and chemical sectors. Hydroxyapatite is a key functional powder and ceramic precursor used in biomedical implants, bone graft substitutes, and dental materials due to its excellent biocompatibility and osteoconductivity. In agriculture, finely ground apatite rock serves as a slow-release phosphate fertilizer. It is also a major source material for the production of phosphoric acid and elemental phosphorus, which are fundamental inorganic chemical feedstocks for numerous downstream industries. Beyond these, synthetic apatites are investigated as catalysts, adsorbents for heavy metal removal in water treatment, and as hosts for luminescent ions in solid-state lighting. Naturally occurring fluorapatite is the principal ore for phosphorus. From a synthetic chemistry perspective, high-purity synthetic apatite powders are used as specialized inorganic reagents or precursors in materials synthesis.
