    Product Description:
Silver 2,2,2-trifluoroacetate is a coordination compound consisting of a silver(I) cation and a trifluoroacetate anion. It is a white to off-white crystalline powder, sensitive to light and moisture, and soluble in polar organic solvents like acetonitrile and methanol. The trifluoroacetate ligand imparts enhanced solubility and volatility compared to silver halides. This compound serves primarily as a mild and selective halogenation reagent in organic synthesis, particularly for the conversion of alkyl halides or aryl halides under transition-metal-catalyzed conditions. It is also widely employed as a silver-based catalyst or co-catalyst in various coupling reactions, including the Sonogashira and Heck reactions, where it facilitates oxidative addition or transmetalation steps. Additionally, it acts as a precursor for the preparation of other silver complexes and as a source of trifluoroacetate in medicinal chemistry for introducing trifluoromethyl groups. Due to its light sensitivity, it should be stored in a dark, dry environment. It is a mild oxidant and should be handled with standard laboratory safety precautions, avoiding contact with strong reducing agents.
