    Product Description:
Phenylsilane is an organosilicon compound with the formula C6H5SiH3. It consists of a silicon atom bonded to a phenyl group and three hydride hydrogens, making it a colorless, air- and moisture-sensitive liquid. Its primary application is as a mild and selective reducing agent in organic synthesis, particularly for the reduction of carbonyl compounds, alkenes, and imines under hydrosilylation conditions. In materials chemistry, phenylsilane serves as a precursor for silicon carbide (SiC) coatings and as a surface-modifying agent to introduce phenyl groups onto silica or metal oxide surfaces, enhancing hydrophobicity or compatibility with organic matrices. Due to its high reactivity, it is typically handled under inert atmosphere and is a key building block for synthesizing more complex organosilicon compounds, including siloxanes and functionalized silanes for polymer and coating applications.
