    Product Description:
1,1,1-Tris(hydroxymethyl)ethane, also known as trimethylolethane, is a triol with three primary hydroxyl groups attached to a central quaternary carbon. It is a white crystalline solid with high melting point and good solubility in polar solvents. This compound serves as a key polyol building block in the production of high-performance alkyd and polyester resins, polyurethane foams, and synthetic lubricants. Its trifunctional structure provides crosslinking sites, enhancing thermal stability and mechanical strength in coatings and adhesives. In industrial applications, it is widely used as a raw material for plasticizers, synthetic drying oils, and as a stabilizer in PVC formulations. Additionally, trimethylolethane acts as a chain extender in polyurethane systems and as a precursor for specialty surfactants. Its low volatility and high hydroxyl functionality make it valuable in the manufacture of radiation-curable coatings and UV-curable inks. The compound is also employed as a chemical intermediate in the synthesis of flame retardants and as a pH buffer in certain industrial processes.
