    Product Description:
Bismuth(III) chloride (BiCl₃, CAS 7787-60-2) is an inorganic compound that appears as a white to pale yellow crystalline solid. It is highly hygroscopic and hydrolyzes readily in moist air to form bismuth oxychloride (BiOCl). It is soluble in acidic aqueous solutions and polar organic solvents such as ethanol and acetone. Its primary application is as a versatile precursor in materials chemistry. It is a key starting material for the synthesis of various bismuth-containing compounds, including bismuth oxide (Bi₂O₃) nanoparticles, bismuth oxychloride (BiOCl) photocatalysts, and other functional inorganic materials. These materials find use in areas such as photocatalysis for environmental remediation, pigments, and as solid electrolytes. In synthetic chemistry, it serves as a mild Lewis acid catalyst for organic transformations, including Friedel-Crafts acylations, aldol condensations, and the synthesis of heterocyclic compounds.
