    Product Description:
1-Methyl-2-pyrrolidinone (NMP, CAS 872-50-4) is a polar aprotic solvent with a five-membered lactam structure. It is a colorless to slightly yellow liquid, miscible with water and most organic solvents. Its primary industrial application is as a solvent in the manufacturing of lithium-ion battery electrodes, where it is used to dissolve polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF) binders for cathode slurry preparation. Additionally, NMP serves as a high-boiling-point solvent in the chemical industry for the extraction of acetylene, butadiene, and as a paint stripper or cleaning agent in electronics manufacturing. NMP is also utilized as a reaction medium in pharmaceutical synthesis and as a solvent for engineering plastics like polyethersulfone (PES). Due to its reproductive toxicity, handling requires strict safety controls and ventilation.
